Located in the hart of Singapore Novus restaurant offers fine dining at the National Museum of Singapore. For people who like to sit outside they have a cosy courtyard with a small podium for a band or solo artist to play. Lots of smoking space outside too.
The food they serve definitely falls under the category of fine dining. We started with a tuna carpaccio and had a nice 250gr Agnus beef steak as our main dish. Both dishes very delicious and nothing to criticise about at all. The tuna carpaccio was served on a rectangle shaped dish, first time for me. The steak had French seasoning and was grilled with the fat like it should. Yummy!
At the start of our dining experience the waiters offered us a special menu of a starter, soup, main dish and desert with a complementary glass of champagne. But when we started to add every dish, the total seemed less that their special offer. Unless they charge $30 for the glass of champagne 🙂
The service throughout the whole evening was extremely bad. It started with showing our table without asking if we wanted something to drink. We had to call them to place our order. Then they asked if we wanted plain or sparkling water and walked away without asking if we wanted something else! 🙁
On top of that we were interrupted with our conversations many times, which could have been a lot more subtle. Finally at the end when we ordered a coffee each and the first coffee was served and 45 minutes later the other two. Very bad service for a upper-class restaurant with upper-class prices. 🙁
4 people, 3 course, 2 bottles of wine and two drinks each: $750! 🙁
